A brief History
In December 1970, a group of twenty young people, mainly school leaver gather to form the Kuala Lumpur Junior Jaycees or Jaycees Youth Club. The formation of this Club was a project undertaken by Kuala Lumpur Junior Chamber under their youth activities commission. The “young wing” came under the auspices of Kuala Lumpur Junior Chamber.
On 30th Sept 1973, the inaugural meeting was held for the formation of new Jacyees Chapter, the Jacyees Ibu Kota (West). At 1973 National Covention, Jaycees Ibu Kota (West) was given provisional l permit was granted by the Registrar of Societies allowing the Chapter to function officially in Feb 1974.
The change of name to Junior Chamber Kuala Lumpur (West) was approved by the Registrar of Societies in 1993.
Junior Chamber International (JCI)
JCI is a non-profit, non-government worldwide leadership development organistions which dedicated to the provision of opportunity for young people to develop leadership skills, social responsibility, entrepreneurship and fellowship necessary to create positive change.
THE JUNIOR CHAMBER’S DREAMS AND PURPOSE are most clearly expressed in the words of founder Henry “Hy” Giessenbier who said:
“From within the walls of the soul of this organization wherein the foundations of character and citizenship are laid, I hope a message will come forth in the sometime of tomorrow that will stir the people toward the establishment of the permanent and everlasting world peace.”
The purpose of Junior Chamber is to show the rest of the world:
- That all human beings can be developed
- That all are equal
- That the world is interdependent
- That the world does not belong to man; but man belongs to the world
- And consequently, every man is a citizen of the world

Our mission is to contribute to the advance of the global community by providing the opportunity for young people to develop the leadership skill, social responsibility, entrepreneurship and fellowship necessary to create positive change.
